Year of Consecrated Life

December 1, 2014

Pope Francis has proclaimed a Year of Consecrated Life on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen Gentium, which speaks of religious in its sixth chapter, and of the Decree Perfectae Caritatis on the renewal of religious life.

The Year will begin on November 30, 2014, the First Sunday of Advent, and conclude with the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple on February 2, 2016.

Catholics on Call is committed to supporting young adults as they explore their vocation in the Church as lay ecclesial ministers, religious sisters or brothers or priests. Taking into account that all vocations are equal before God, we would like to respond to Pope's Francis' invitation and celebrate the past, presence and future of the consecrated life with a heart full of gratitude for the many men and women who have served God and God's people through their commitment to the different forms of consecrated life.

On this website we will make available resources for the Year of Consecrated Life as well as reflections written by alums about the impact consecrated people had on their lives. Come back soon for more information.

  • Just in time for the Year of Consecrated Life, the Society of the Sacred Heart has launched the Call Me Back app. Call Me Back is a digital tool that creates a virtual space where young adults can come together to enrich themselves as reflective, socially aware, and committed people. It provides opportunities for exploration, creative expression and discernment. It also enables users to connect with others who share a certain restlessness - people with a desire to live lives of meaning, depth, and integrity. The Mission of Call Me Back is to establish an online and in-person community for young people seeking ways to respond to their personal life calls through self-reflection, faith experiences, interactions, creative expression, and transformative actions for justice, peace, and the integrity of our planet. The app is available now through the App Store or Google Play for 99 cents. For a demonstration, view the video.
  • The website has a nice selection of blog posts and videos of college students who are interacting with sisters and other great resources.
